AutoCAD (& verticals) Plant 3D, and Revit all have different workflows with ACC/BIM 360 projects and the Desktop Connector. After many challenging hours I believe I have finally found a way to explain the various ACC/BIM 360 workflows and would like to share this knowledge with everyone else who's also dealing with all these various workflows and collaboration options. Specifically, I'm going to cover working with Revit, Plant 3D, and Civil 3D (same workflows for AutoCAD) with ACC and/or BIM 360 projects. I'll also cover the Desktop Connector 15 and 16 and the differences we've encountered, good and bad.

We will lay out how using cloud-based workshared models that are bridged to and from multiple sites, Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro licensing, and controlled scheduled publishing can bring efficiencies to your BIM coordination workflow. Utilities, retailers, hospital operators, towercos, and other companies may need to digitalize large portfolios with thousands of existing facilities to complete their digital journeys—either to fully benefit from building information modeling (BIM) in design and construction or as a first step for the creation of their digital twins. Those same companies typically have an inventory database that is either incorrect or incomplete, but that has value nonetheless, since it may be used to connect said assets with other enterprise solutions, including maintenance and operations management. This workflow starts with any existing inventory, uses it in Autodesk Construction Cloud Assets and Forms to capture on-site data, then switches to Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro software and Autodesk Docs software for the intelligent modeling of the facilities, and then again moves back to the Assets functionality for audit and validation.
